Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in my trek?

Point-to-point pickup & drop from the journey's base location, all meals on the trail (fresh, local, vegetarian), camping stay with tents and gear, a certified local guide leading you end-to-end, first aid & oxygen, and all permits and forest charges.

What's NOT included?

Your travel cost till the pickup point (we'll gladly help you plan it), personal clothing & trekking gear (rentals can be arranged), insurance, and tips. Anything not listed in inclusions — we keep it simple and honest.

Why is there no fixed price?

Because no two journeys should be the same. We plan each expedition personally with you — dates, route, group size, and budget. Message us on WhatsApp or call, and we'll coordinate directly. No middlemen, no hidden charges.

Which journeys do you offer?

Sacred pilgrimages (Shrikhand Kailash, Kinnaur Kailash, Manimahesh Kailash, Adi Kailash, Mount Kailash, Yulla Kanda), trekking adventures (Buran Pass, Chandranahan Lake, Bashleo Circuit), expedition treks (Pin Bhaba, Pin Parvati) and road expeditions (Spiti Winter Moto, Spiti Circuit). A Forest Trek is announced soon.

How fit do I need to be?

It depends on the journey — each adventure page lists its difficulty and a fitness recommendation honestly. If you can walk 10-12 km a day with a backpack and build 4-6 weeks of cardio before a hard trek, you're ready. Ask us, we'll tell you truthfully.

About Us

We are local guides who love sharing the mountains we call home.

Guides Who Call These Mountains Home

We brothers were born here, below the snowline, surrounded by forests, rivers, villages and peaks that have been part of our lives for as long as we can remember. We did not come here looking for a business. We grew up here — walking these trails, learning from these mountains, and listening to the stories carried by every valley and every peak.

Our journey began with something small — a circle of brothers, family and friends called the Shrikhand Mahadev Club.

What started as a group of people walking together towards the sacred Shrikhand Kailash slowly became much more than a pilgrimage. We planned journeys together, shared meals around the fire, helped one another on difficult stretches, and welcomed people who came from far away with the same warmth we would offer someone visiting our own home.

Some arrived as strangers. By the time the journey ended, they felt like family.

That stayed with us.

Over time, our love for the mountains grew beyond one trail. We began exploring more valleys, discovering lesser-known paths, travelling through remote villages and learning that every journey has something to teach us — about nature, about people, and often about ourselves.

That is where Altipel Expeditions began to take shape.

For us, travelling has never been about simply reaching a destination or ticking another place off a list. It is about everything that happens along the way — the quiet mornings in the forest, a meal shared after a long day, a conversation with a local family, the changing weather, the unexpected challenges, the laughter on the trail and the moments when you simply stop and look around.

We believe the journey matters as much as the destination.

That is why we do things a little differently.

We do not want to take people through mountains as if they were moving through a checklist. We prefer small groups, honest routes and journeys shaped around the mountain itself — the weather, the terrain, the season and the people walking with us.

Every route we offer is connected to our own experience of the mountains. We walk the trails, learn the terrain, understand the communities and continue discovering what lies beyond the obvious paths.

When you travel with us, you are not simply joining a tour.

You are entering our home.

And when someone enters our home, we want them to experience it with the same respect, curiosity and warmth that we have carried with us all our lives.

Our responsibility also goes beyond the people travelling with us. The mountains have given us a way of life, and we believe we have a responsibility to protect them. We want to travel thoughtfully — respecting nature, local traditions, wildlife, villages and the people who call these places home.

Because these mountains are not just destinations to us.

They are our home, our teachers and a part of who we are.

And this is only the beginning.

We want to continue exploring, learning and sharing the Himalayas with people from different parts of the world — while keeping the spirit with which we started alive. From the trails around our own home to the valleys and high passes still waiting to be discovered, our journey will keep growing.

Perhaps one day, the same trails we walk today will be walked by another generation of our family, carrying the same stories forward.

Until then, we will keep walking.

One trail. One story. One journey at a time.
